Truck Driver

All the pillows we had to buy for the new missionaries in the back of our truck.

Hey this week has been pretty dry! We spent the days knocking doors and having lessons! We have struggled the last couple of days. We have been trying to baptize a couple of people but they keep drinking coffee (the devils drink of choose).  

I have been getting better at being guided by the Spirit. We found a couple of families in this tiny little street in the middle of a jungle and that was sick! Hopefully they progress! Nothing else really happened.

11 Months Later

This week we had changes which means things get crazy around here! We also had a problem with a couple of elders in our mission so we had to get them out of here before they could cause more problems.

Tuesday- the new missionaries had their first day in the mission field! We went to the president's house and I presented something tiny. We ate and then we took the noobies out for the first day of work... haha! Our president makes us destroy them so they have the right expectation of the mission. So I ran all day-the first thing of the day I took this new kid from Honduras to this staircase (184 steps). We looked up it and it was literally a waterfall. (It was raining super hard) I asked him if he was ready and he looked at me. I just took off running up these stairs haha! It was a fun day, but my body is super sore!

Wednesday were CHANGES!!!!! I received a “new companion.” Just happens to be my comp from the MTC! ELDER JEFFERY!!!!!!! He is awesome and is helping me a ton!! He also speaks amazing Spanish!

11 Months Later

Other than these things, the week has been pretty normal! Just working hard and waking up early. Still trying to avoid fast food even though it is abundant around here haha!

Done With Problems

Monday-Wednesday- We were just doing the normal stuff!  Working hard and getting things ready for this next change. P-Day we spent all day cleaning the house. Our house is HUGE (4 stories tall) and all the missionaries who are going home leave their stuff here. So we cleaned like crazy and made brownies!

Thursday- This is when it gets crazy. In the morning, president called us and said ¨get a ticket for an Elder because he is going home tomorrow. He ran away and we are still looking for him. We then had to go find this kid and get everything ready. That same day President called us again and said ¨we also need a ticket for a Hermana because she is going home tomorrow...ya so that was a good day. :(

Friday- We got the one Elder on the plane really early in the morning. Then we had to take two sisters to their area so the one sister could pack! We drove for 3 hours out to their area on the Coast. ( IT’S SO HOT THERE, I got out of the car and just started to sweat.) While she was packing, we started working in the area. I loved it! The people on the coast are so accepting, and surprising I actually liked the heat haha. The sister finished packing and we headed back to the capital. On the way back we ran into a protest...we were stuck there for 3 hours. We finally got back to the capital at 9pm. As we were dropping the Hermanas off, we got a call from the Elder we had sent home that morning and he was stuck in an airport in Honduras. The airport wanted to kick him out...so we had to go to the office and figure that all out. We got home at 12am.

Saturday- We woke up at 3:30am to take the Hermana to the airport. THEN WE WERE DONE WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS. We went back home and slept until 5:30am and woke up again to get the mini missionary for the one Hermanas companion!!! We are tired!

Sunday- WE BAPTIZED!!!! I WAS STOKED!!! We baptized Hermanita Evelin! She's 16 and is the daughter of the lady we baptized a couple weeks back! She is super crazy and funny so it’s been pretty fun teaching this family!!!

I had to go back to my mission birthplace to pick up my convert!  He is a mini missionary right now! I was so stoked to see the family again!

Run All Day

Hey guess what, I only have 13 months left..........I’m getting close to a year mom!! I’m stoked! I always think about the mission and how it is cool and how I’m learning a ton! But I’m also stoked to start my life!!! Something I’ve learned a lot of is just working soooooooooo hard!!!!! I promise you this mission is different! No matter if you are completely dead tired, you still run... and also the rejection.  The rejection is hard here! But we still go around having fun, so it’s preparing me for vida!!!!

So let me tell you about my week!!!! The beginning of the week was normal, just working hard and getting people ready to be baptized!

Friday- my comp and I had to do a drop off run! We had to drop off refrigerators and beds. We loaded up the truck super tight and planned out the route. It turned out to be a REALLY LONG ROAD TRIP!! The plan was to do a big loop around the entire mission, go out to the coast then to the mountains and return to the capital. We left at 8 in the morning and got home at 9 at night.  It was a long day!!! But we got everything out to the mission and hopefully people will stop breaking their refrigerators haha!

We had P-day on Saturday (4TH OF JULY) and our mission president took us on a little road trip. We went to this place called Santiago, Atitlan.  Wow guys, this place is SO SICK!!! It’s beautiful and the lake is so clean. Satan almost tempted me to jump in, but I got power so don’t worry haha! We enjoyed the area for a little while, bought some stuff and chilled by the lake!

Sunday- we were going to baptize Una Hermanita but she got super sick, something called dengiá (I don’t know how to spell it) She couldn’t get up so she is going to get baptized next week!!!

Pa Pues

No more Pilas

Hello!!

We had this thing called LA GIRA this week. The 1st counselor of the area presidency came and spoke to us by areas- the mountains, the coast, and the capital. My comp and I went up to the mountains. We woke up super early and drove a solid 2 hours into the mountains to a town called Patizcia.

This was the last meeting and area with the General Authority.  We heard about how he had been destroying missionaries and a ton of concepts we have in the mission. We go to this meeting and everything is going good, then the assistants and a couple zone leaders gave a presentation. The general authority would just stand up and correct them. Then I had to give a little presentation about the spirit (and I was scared) haha... ya he stood up and corrected me a lot but it was all good and humbling. He did get rid of the word PILAS in the mission though... which made me sad (its a slang word that just means smart) This is what he said ¨you guys claim you can walk on water, but every time you say PILAS, you start to sink and Jesus won’t help you out. ¨ (Getting rid of Pilas has proven very hard to get rid.) I learned a ton! There is no such thing as being more obedient, it’s just obedient. I also learned a big difference about covenants and commitments. I guess our mission is a lot different than other missions. It gave him more room to tear us apart. He told us in all the other missions, he just went and spoke, nobody else spoke. With ours we had presentations so he would stand up and stop the conference when he had a spiritual thought. It was good and we are going to see a lot of changes so we can baptize more!!! After all of this we had lunch with the General Authority and he said our mission was one of the strongest he had seen in his tour across Central America! That made us feel good!

Other than that it was just the same old same old! We got a ton of people to go to church and we are going to baptize next week!!!!!

Missionary Mistakes

I’ll start from the beginning!

Monday- Wednesday- we were teaching and finding people so I won't bore you guys with all that stuff.

Thursday- we went on a little road trip to take supplies to some elder’s way out in the middle of nowhere. We decided to make a P-day out of it! (We don’t have a set p-day because there hardly is time for that) We went out to Antigua and did a ton of fun stuff up there with my distrito!!! We talked with a bunch of Mormon gringos that were up there for some humanitarian work! They were crazy surfing people from California so it was fun to talk with them!

Friday and Saturday we had two interviews to get people ready to be baptized! Hermana Betty and Hermana Jouquina! Two hermanitas that are just awesome and so funny! Hermana Jouqina is this crazy 83-year-old woman who is basically my grandma out here! She is so CRAZY!! Funny story about her -we have been teaching Hermana Jouqina for a couple of weeks and we brought her to church a couple times! She always told us she had been baptized in the church but we weren’t sure because she said the people who baptized her were JUAN AND JOSUE haha. We just thought she was crazy and she was baptized in some Evangelical church. So we got her all ready for baptism............

Sunday- we get to the church and we are getting everything set up the baptism! We get Betty and Jauqina all dressed up in white and my comp and I are dressed up in white. That’s when some weird stuff started happening! Out of no where came up this member and said that Hermana Jauqina was a member of the church because he was at her baptism 45 YEARS AGO!!!! We were all confused! We were just thinking ¨do we trust these crazy Guatemalan people or do we just do it anyway. We decided to investigate a little, we called the area office and gave them her information, they looked her up, AND SHE WAS ALREADY A MEMBER!!!!!!!! WE ALMOST BAPTIZED A MEMBER!!!!!!!!!

Missionaries make mistakes and sometimes we almost baptize members....pero Esta bien hahaha!! We still baptized Hermana Betty this weekend and we are preparing her daughter for this weekend!
